Initiative summary:

Reform Art runs the country’s most popular pro-democracy TV channel with national reach, an online portal and a radio.

The media outlet has strategic significance for media pluralism and democracy in Moldova and is one of the very few television outlets in the country able to create a wide range of original content and news, produced in-house. This makes it a key asset in providing alternative information to disinformation broadcasted by both oligarchic and Russian media. Jurnal TV has received EED support in the past: the previous grant enabled the television to re-open after temporary shut down, further funding helped the grantee to develop non-news non-political shows in Russian language, enhancing the channel as a more effective platform for pro-democracy activists. The current grant will support Jurnal’s activity before the 2018 parliamentary elections and will enable the TV to enhance its news content.
