Since inception, EED has supported over 600 initiatives aimed at promoting democracy in the EU neighbourhood and beyond. This database provides an insight into the work of EED partners over the years. However, due to the sensitive nature of certain initiatives and personal security risks facing some grantees in the restrictive environments where they operate, not all initiatives are listed in the database.
Sowt (Arabic for ‘Voice’), based in Jordan, is one of the most prominent podcasting platforms that work exclusively in the MENA region and in Arabic. With an experienced team in multimedia journalism, Sowt produces rich and boundary-pushing content that reaches thousands of Arabic speakers across the region. With EED support, Sowt is producing and publishing a new investigative series podcast examining human rights abuses and other crimes in the MENA region.

Its content ranges from reinterpreting and instigating debate about history and religion, to reporting on economic, political, and cultural happenings. Its archive consists of over 2500 original online videos of TV broadcast quality. It is considered the first Arabic WebTV in Jordan. Aramram targets young people to not only shape their views, but also to give them a platform to participate in public life.
