The European Endowment for Democracy, in cooperation with ActionSyrie, is hosting a screening of the documentary ‘Little Palestine – Diary of a Siege’, by Syrian director Abdallah Al-Khatib.

‘Little Palestine’ tells the story of the Yarmouk camp in Damascus, the biggest Palestinian refugee camp in the world, at the time of the siege by the forces of the regime of Bashar Al-Assad between 2013 and 2015, during the Syrian conflict.

Abdallah Al-Khatib was born in Yarmouk and lived there until his expulsion by Daesh in 2015. Between 2011 and 2015, he and his friends documented the daily life of the besieged inhabitants, who decided to face bombing, displacement and hunger with rallying, study, music, love, and joy. He eventually left Syria.

The screening will be followed by a discussion with Abdallah Al-Khatib, Ali Atassi, director of former EED partner Bidayyat, who produced the documentary, and Benjamin Peltier coordinator for Syria of Amnesty Belgium.

The event will take place on Wednesday, 16 March 2022 at 19:00 at Cinéma Galeries (Galerie de la Reine 26, 1000 Brussels). The movie will be screened in Arabic with French subtitles.
