  • Movie Screening: 'Little Palestine - Diary of a siege'

    The European Endowment for Democracy, in cooperation with ActionSyrie, is hosting a screening of the documentary ‘Little Palestine – Diary of a Siege’, by Syrian director Abdallah Al-Khatib.

    ‘Little Palestine’ tells the story of the Yarmouk camp in Damascus, the biggest Palestinian refugee camp in the world, at the time of the siege by the forces of the regime of Bashar Al-Assad between 2013 and 2015, during the Syrian conflict.

  • The Voice and Resilience of Syrian Independent Media in 10 years of Conflict

    In the framework of the Brussels V Conference on “Supporting the future of Syria and the region” on 29-30 March 2021, organised by the European Union, the European Endowment for Democracy (EED) is co-organising an online event together with Free Press Unlimited and International Media Support (IMS) focused on independent media.

    One hundred thousand Syrians have been detained or have disappeared since the start of the Syrian revolution in 2011. Enforced disappearance is a crime against humanity that has become a daily reality in Syria, a reality that has laid a heavy burden on the country and its people alike. Since last June, the Syrian government has been issuing death notices for detainees at an unprecedented rate by updating their civil records.   • EED at the Global Media Forum 2017

    Building on a positive experience at the Global Media Forum in 2016, the European Endowment for Democracy is yet again travelling to Bonn to contribute to this year's edition of this unique conference by Deutsche Welle. The GMF is dedicated to looking at various topics in the field of foreign policy, future of the media and freedom of expression under an overarching focus theme for 2017 of "Identity and Diversity".

  • Security or Democracy – do we need to make a choice?

    The European Endowment for Democracy in cooperation with the International Media Support, Danish Foreign Policy Society and Danish Institute for Parties and Democracy is organising a conference devoted to democratic challenges in the European Neighbourhood. The conference, taking place on 10 May 2017 in Copenhagen, will gather Danish democracy-support community, Member States’ representatives, high level speakers and democracy activists, to jointly discuss how Europe engages in supporting the development of democracy and democracy activists in the European Neighbourhood.
